Communication Problems

Carbon tax proposals, however, have divided economists from almost everybody else. In particular, an exceptionally effective and efficient carbon tax, the gasoline tax, has been even more unanimously supported by economists and even more virulently opposed by almost everyone else.

From Empirical Legal Studies. Alan Blinder once wrote that economists are only useful when they disagree. When they agree, it is easy for everyone else to disregard them. Free trade is the most common example, but the carbon tax is emerging as another perfect example.
