Barr Runs for President
May 12, 2008 – 11:06 pm by CJBFormer Republican Rep. Bob Barr launched a Libertarian Party presidential bid today (AP). He obviously has no shot at winning, but he could add an interesting voice to the debate. In a close election, as it is expected to be, he could be the Republican’s Ralph Nader. This is especially true since many “true” conservatives, which are the people a libertarian would appeal to, are already somewhat disillusioned by Sen. McCain. A few thousands votes here or there could make the difference.
One Response to “Barr Runs for President”
Libertarians appeal mainly to conservatives? Maybe to fiscal conservatives… Many “liberals” consider themselves libertarians too: those who support abortion, separation of church and state, legalization of prostitution and drugs, etc. Libertarians are libertarians, period. Don’t you dare put them in the same bag with republicans or democrats!
Much love,
