Legal Jeapardy: Particle Accelerator Ends World

This is a great article and a fascinating case I think.  A few people are bringing a case that  would suspend operations at particle accelerators because they fear that they could create black holes that then swallow the entire world.  It sounds crazy, but rational people have at least theorized about and studied this idea.  People in the US and people in charge of the new large accelerator (CERN) in Europe have both looked in this, so it is not all crazy-talk.  With that being said, I think it is highly unlikely and the potential scientific discoveries stemming from them offset this small chance of world destruction.
